In Spring 2011, Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty came under new ownership, consequently acquiring the master license for the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca and given the superb name and reputation that the Sotheby’s International Realty ® brand has acquired globally , quickly becoming the Estate Agent of choice throughout the Balearic Islands. This week saw the opening of the office in central Palma, attended by a mix
of nationalities and tended by staff serving drinks and canapes from Cappuccino , the newest business center
promoting luxury properties looks to be a success.
Most of the luxury homes, exclusive villas and magnificent penthouses for sale in Mallorca’s Southwest area are newly built or fully renovated. The demand for apartments on sale in the Southwest is approximately a third lower than the demand for villas. As for plots, there are only a few remaining options in Southwest Mallorca offering outstanding views, and therefore developers tend to focus mainly on villas requiring extensive renovation work. We offer luxury houses and villas for sale in Port d’Andratx, Nueva Santa Ponsa / Port Adriano and Bendinat / Portals. We also have a selection of properties in Southwest Mallorca’s most sought-after areas.
Palma, the capital of Majorca and the Balearic Islands, is the eighth largest city in Spain by population with some 500,000 inhabitants. The airport, the commercial harbour, and the Real Club Náutico http://www.rcnp.es and Club de Mar http://www.clubdemar-mallorca.com marinas are in its municipality. The old town, which contains the Cathedral, the Almudaina palace, the Arab baths and the Calatrava district is worth mentioning, as is the shopping district with its luxury shops on the Paseo del Borne and Jaime III streets. The Santa Catalina district, with its wide variety of bars, restaurants and shops, and a pleasant night-time atmosphere, is also a very attractive area. On the coast, the Portixol and Ciudad Jardín areas are very popular because of their bars, restaurants and shops, as well as their property offer.
This area stretches from Porto Cristo, site of the legendary Drach Caves, as far as the eastern side of Palma Bay, in the municipality of Llucmajor. The most luxurious properties for sale are to be found in the municipality of Santanyí, in the areas dotted with country estates rather than the town centre. Here you can choose from a wide selection of inland properties and country estates, most of which are fitted with flat solar panels and their own water supply. Ses Salines is another highly aspirational area and the site of some of Mallorca’s most famous beaches, including the vast Es Trenc with its fine white sands and crystal-clear waters. Other superb spots include the recently renovated marinas of Cala d’Or and Sa Ràpita, overlooking the Nature Park on the Cabrera archipelago. Experience the fabulous sensation of owning a luxury home in the island’s southeast region.
From Cala Ratjada to Porto Cristo, revel in the delights of one of Mallorca’s most spectacular coasts, dotted with tiny coves and impeccably-kept beaches. Highlights include the town of Porto Colom, in the municipality of Felanitx; largely overlooked by the mass tourism industry and boasting a renovated marina, this is a highly sought-after area for luxury homes offering a peaceful setting and stunning natural landscape. We have a number of luxury villas for sale in Porto Colom, most of which stand on plots of more than 10,000 m2 and offering superb sea views. In addition, a little further to the north, on Costa de los Pinos, we have a number of exclusive villas for sale. Also not to be forgotten are prime locations such as Sa Font de Sa Cala, Canyamel and Cala Ratjada, where clients may also purchase an outstanding home overlooking the sea.
Mallorca’s northern region, running from Formentor to Cala Ratjada, boasts a stunning coastline backed by pine woods and bathed by the calm waters of its two superb bays. Beyond the town of Can Picafort lies an unspoilt protected area with a wealth of natural flora and fauna. We have luxury villas for sale in the idyllic town of Colònia de Sant Pere as well as in the residential developments of “Cielo de Bonaire” and “Paraíso de Bonaire”, standing on the small peninsula separating the bays of Alcúdia and Pollensa. In Puerto Pollensa you will also find a number of luxury apartments for sale, whilst the spacious and highly exclusive villas in the magnificent inland area of Tramuntana offer breathtaking views of the mountain range. Another of the island’s most select areas is to be found on Formentor Peninsula, where we have outstanding luxury properties, many with their own direct access to the sea and stunning panoramic views of the Mediterranean.
Mallorca’s western region stretches from Puerto de Andratx to Pollensa. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful area on the island, as it includes the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. Charmingly quaint towns such as Estellencs, Esporles or Banyalbufar embody the ideal of Mallorca’s tranquil lifestyle in harmony with nature. This is a landscape characterised by waterfalls, pebble coves, valleys stretching down to the rocky coasts and the traditional terraces where sturdy ancient olive trees that produce Mallorca’s superb oil grow. Our most outstanding luxury properties in this area are to be found in the exclusive mountain town of Deià, near Valldemossa, where we have large villas in the George Sand residential development, or in Sóller and the famous Port de Sóller.
The central region is the largest on Mallorca, covering more than half the island. Its charming inland towns and villages, vineyards and the vast country estates make this an irresistible and highly sought-after location for both investors and those wishing to settle inland. The towns of Alaró and Santa María are the most aspirational areas, where we offer our luxury villas for sale. Far from the hustle and bustle yet with easy access to the motorway, most of our superb properties stand on plots of more than 4,000 m2, making them the ideal choice for those seeking a peaceful life in Mallorca’s countryside. We also have a number of properties in Santa María and Bunyola that are ideal for horse breeding.
